Santa Catarina, located in southern Brazil stands out for its strategic location and advanced logistics network, featuring five key ports, three airports, and important highways, easily connecting the region to the ports and to the economic hub of Sao Paulo. This comprehensive infrastructure supports efficient supply chains and links the state to major global markets.
Felipe Fioravanti Kaufmann, Director of Business Development and Customer Experience at Porto Itapoá, highlights the state’s strengths: “Santa Catarina’s diverse infrastructure streamlines the flow of goods through multiple transportation modes, cutting costs and delivery times—key for foreign investors seeking global competitiveness. Over 13 years, more than BRL 2.5 billion has been invested in the terminal’s facilities, ranking it among Brazil’s top five container terminals and positioning it to become Santa Catarina’s largest in cargo handling. An additional BRL 500 million is now being invested to expand logistics and port capacity.”
Flavio, Sales Manager at Ponta Negra Logística, emphasizes Santa Catarina’s strategic position for industries seeking long-term operations in Brazil: “Logistics centers here have easy access to international maritime routes, and the Baía da Babitonga Port Complex, home to the ports of Itapoá and São Francisco do Sul, is near major consumer hubs.”
Future projects include deepening the Baía da Babitonga access channel to accommodate larger vessels and upgrading airports and roads to strengthen connectivity. This fosters growth in sectors like agribusiness, automotive, and textiles.
With ongoing investments and a focus on infrastructure modernization, the state remains a prime destination for trade and industry. Contact Forvm to discuss how Santa Catarina’s logistics network can help drive success for your business.
